Getting to Know the Project

TEDb.jpg Welcome to the TED Talk: House of the Future Project. The project will require approximately four weeks to complete and will address the key CCSS for geometry in the following clusters:
  • Prove geometric theorems.
  • Make geometric constructions.
  • Apply geometric concepts in modeling situations.

The TED Talk: House of the Future Project is designed to engage you in the study of geometry by applying geometric reasoning to complete geometric constructions and explain how they work. You will be expected to create a new design for a house or living space, using a variety of shapes, and incorporate your design into a TED-like presentation in which you describe the reasons and design principles behind your design. The principles should be grounded in initial research in the project, during which you examine trends in housing, urbanization and megacities, and futuristic living spaces.

You don't have to become expert architects or authorities on future trends. But you should be able to discern trends, review data and opinions, make judgments about the future of housing, and design a housing model based on basic knowledge about the future. The model can be created using dynamic geometric software or constructions from paper or other materials.
